Technology can be overwhelming for those new to it, which is where Telstra Platinum technicians like Drew Westlake are happy to help.
Research has shown it’s not just kids picking up tablets these days, in fact Australian of all ages are getting to grips with mobile devices, wearable technologies and the internet, proving it’s never too early or late to get tech savvy.
There are so many benefits to be had from embracing technology including the ability to connect with loved ones all around the world, feeling a sense of belonging to a community and being able to perform everyday tasks such as paying bills, shopping and banking from the convenience of your own home.
Of course, new technology can seem a little overwhelming at times, and that’s where we can help.
In my role as a Telstra Platinum technician, I help customers set up, fix and get the most out of their technology.
One of the most popular services in our Telstra Platinum suite is the ‘Learn IT’ session where we provide one to one coaching and support across a number of products and topics either by phone or in store including:
Making the most out of email
Email is one of the fundamental internet technologies, and it’s used by nearly every person with an internet connection. We can show you how to set up your own email account whether that be BigPond Mail, Gmail, Hotmail or with another provider of your choice. We’ll also show you how use email to communicate with people you know, attach photos and documents to emails as well as using it to receive household bills and other important items.
Getting social
I used to think social media was something for the young, but let me tell you, you’ll love being able to keep up to date with friends and family all over the world.
I usually recommend Facebook as a starting point for social media beginners as it’s easy to use and you only connect with people you know and trust. We can show you how to see what others have been up to, comment on a friend’s posts, view their photos and videos as well as letting everyone know your latest news too.
Staying in touch
I recently helped a customer set up a new tablet (a birthday gift from her family) so that she could video call her children and grandchildren using Skype®. Her reaction when we made the first skype call to the family was priceless – it bought a tear to her eye to see the faces of her loved ones. We also spent some time adjusting font sizes to make reading easier, setting up instant messaging service WhatsApp and YouTube® as she loves to watch cooking tutorials online.
In addition to our pay as you go offers like ‘Learn IT’, we also support customers with ongoing needs through our Telstra Platinum subscription services.
